"We are One"

Have you ever agonized for days over the dress you will buy for a special occasion?  I had been shopping for days until I just sat down and thought about the dress I wanted.  I wanted it to dazzle Mindy.  I wanted to turn heads when I entered a room or got up to dance.  That didn't tell me much.  I did want a black, red or a creamy chiffon dress with a becoming neckline but not strapless.  (I don't think I look very good in a strapless dress.)  What lenght did I want.....ankle, below the knee, at the knee or thigh high?  I narrowed it down to three dresses, an ankle length, creamy, pleated, halter dress, a deep red, spaghetti strapped dress with a deep red flower pattern crocheted overlay and v neckline or a basisc black dress with a cut out above a sweetheart bodice and a large pleated skirt?

Because of the risk of looking like a lady of the evening, I didn't choose the red dress.  I chose the creamy chiffon dress.  Pleats on its tied top, pleats on the cummerbund empire type waist, bare back and flowing skirt.  It was so feminine, and not frilly!  I accessorized with nude hose, strappy high heeled cream sandals, pearl earrings, pearl rings, a pearl necklace and a pearlized sequined clutch that I borrowed from my Mom and sister.  I put my dark red hair in an updo and softened my makeup to match my dress.

I came out of the bedroom and Mindy gasped.  Then I gasped.  Mindy was wearing a gorgeous red dress and she may have looked a little like a lady of the evening but wow, she looked delicious!

When we danced, my cream pleated skirt whirlled around Mindy in her red dress and we were complimented by so many on how good we looked together!  We were thrilled and it made our whole evening.

It's a good thing I didn't choose the red dress or we would have clashed all evening long.

But I still want that red dress!

Sometimes the dress chooses you...

I HAVE agonized for days and days over what I would wear. Now, I buy a dress when I see it, even if I don't have an occasion for it, cause I know, then next time I need one, I will have it. Same with shoes...

Style doesn't wait for bargin shoppers. You have to get to the stores when the new lines are out on the racks. If you wait for a "deal" you may never find that perfect dress, or shoes, cause everything is always picked over - and that will leave you only to bargin shop and having to piece an outfit together.

I am the same as Chloe, when i see a dress I really want I either make an excuse to ahve it or buy it with the hope of wearing it out for a nice evening.  So far been lucky enough to get out to several nice evenings.  I jsut love Le Chateau dresses more than I shoud perhaps  lol

enjoy your shopping Janet...............

I no longer have the available money to buy a dress on a whim and in fact I have had to depart with three dresses recently ( hot numbers too!) because since GCS I have filled out and I couldn't come close to zipping them.

I have pieced outfits together, but I had ample tiime to do so. One gown I wore to PE I found at my friend's consignment shop. She also had the right clutch so then it was a matter of finding the right shoes, which came along about three months later at Macy's where they had these delicious Anne Klein silver, 4" sandals.

Currently I am on a tigher budget, but I could still be wearing high fashion, but instead went into debt for a better purchase between the legs. There was hardly a choice to make,

It sounds like you had a good time. There is a thrill about looking hot and showing it off at a party or dance that is so thrilling, almost orgasmic, yes?

A dress is my favourite clothes. If you have a burning desire to buy the dress,  buy it. Some days ago I had 53 dresses in my wardrobe but I saw a dress in one internet shop that caught my eyes, I couldn't stop thinking about it all the evening. And close to the evening I purchased it  with home shipment. It is a gorgeous dress of beige color with long sleeves and pleated skirt till knees and with the vertical lanes and laces on the breast. And I love it very much. The dreams must turn into reality

I just love all of your comments and I am happy to see I am not alone when it comes to picking out a dress.  I wish I had the money to buy clothing on impulse but as I do not have much, I try to do the best I can with what I can spend.  Like Chole, I did buy a dress last November on a whim, but I thought I could wear it for Thanksgiving and Christmas and I did!  Since I just love this dress, (It's the closest thing to a strapless dress I can wear), I thought I would post a picture of me wearing it last Christmas.

A very nice dress and you look beautiful in it. I am as hero of Deep Purple song "Lazy" can't find the time to make new photos in the new dresses.
