OK I just got home from a visit with my physciatrist and was basicly told nope go away try a different card ! I guess there is a bloody rule that in order to be considered transgender you must like the opposite sex already or that you will for certain once you have gone threw everything ! Well sorry but I am not going to just throw my family away and start liking males. I guess I get to be bloody miserable the rest of my life and continue being a depressed male. Please cheer me up ladies I really need it
Well first of all, why are you seeing a psychiatrist? Are you nuts? (laugh any time) Secondly first of all, you don't NEED a psychiatrist unless you think that your entire life is a misconception of epic proportion. For stuff like this, any old LCSW or MSW will do. Whoever told you that crap about attractions is STOOPID! Gender identity and sexual orientation are still two completely different things so don't let some lazy mental case screw up YOUR thought process. A GOOD therapist, not necessarily psychiatrist, will make you think about what you are doing, not tell you you're an idiot on one hand or allow you to indulge in self-destructive on the other.
You just got a lemon, Danica. But please also think about this (not to rain on your parade); You may still have some extremely hard choices down the road and YOU must be prepared for that possibility. Your family may NOT survive this and if that's the case, every one's future lands in your hands.
Anyway, if the person you saw didn't get the money up front, be prepared to send a letter to him/her stating that you feel you got screwed, and their advice was not only off-base but borderline unethical. And you ain't payin'!. What are they gonna do, take you to court and ruin their reputation?

Comment by Rachel King on June 15, 2012 at 10:18pm Send him( you just know it's a him) an email thanking him for his synpathetic(not) outlook for a difficult medical problem.
As you consider it a medical condition and not a physchiatric disorder, you now intend to further conduct the continuation of your treatment with someone who has an understanding of what it is to be a trans woman.
We are trans and we are proud and we do NOT have to endure substandard treatment from Doctors who have an inbuilt prejudice, based on antiquated and entirely disproved theories of what and who we are.
His idea that your sexuality defines you being trans, is totally false and only someone who has their head in the sand would entertain such ideas as his.
Tell him so, politely and also tell him you are a trans woman and you are proud to be so.
Bloody physch's fair give me the shittlebits.
Dunno why you're bothering with him.
If you need your letters, go to a person who has some knowledge, some sympathy and some compassion.
Your Country rivals Oztralia in it's forward thinking and over the last 5 years, the advanced thinking shown by the medical world, thanks to those who had the courage to be activists, is allowing eyes to be opened to the lie that the physchiatry world would have us believe.
This lie has mainly been perpetuated in the US but I give the people there, their due.
The activists have been instrumental in seeing these lies shown up for what they are.
Danica,
You know you are quite sane, you also know that this condition is driving you up the wall.
If you had of been able( read allowed) to address this at an early age, you wouldn't have this dysphoria you now have.
Because you have had to suppress who you are, it builds up into this overpowering need to transition.
This need not include you but I believe that if we all had of been allowed to express ourselves as we are from birth, the large majority would have been comfortable throughout their lives, being male/female in persona, thus allowing our female side to be openly shown and lived.( Crystalynn will love this concession from me)
The dysphoria we show, is from a lifetime of supression which leads to various mental stresses.
So I am saying, we are not born with mental problems, they are learned from suppression, which is exactly the opposite of what the physchiactric world would have us believe.
I live it, I know the difference.
They don't.
You are trans and you are proud, take the steps to take your fate into your own hands.
It's our time.
Time to finally live normally.

Comment by Rachel King on June 16, 2012 at 8:55am So you might like to tell us what happened in 8 days, between blogs on the 7th and 15th, that made your Physch have this supposed change of heart?
I hate stories that have holes in them because we comment on what is written and when there is more story, that totally changes the circumstances and we can feel let down.
It's a sort of betrayal that is so unnesessary on a beautiful site like Pinkessence.
This site is about sharing and supporting each other.
So please, fill in the details and don't presume we can read between the lines.
The missing bits are important, aren't they.......
Comment by Danica Athena on June 17, 2012 at 12:09am ok , i guess i need to do a little bit of some updating it seems hear ! First off why am i seeing a physciatrist , it is because i have been diagnosed as having bi polar and he is helping me with that when he took me on it was also stated i had gender complications as well. So he was suppose to help me with it and well so far he is really coming across as anti us . Secondly , Racheal can you re clairfy what it is i need to fill in as well ? I mean as of June 7 it was announced that Alberta was going to have our g.r.s re instated as of the 15 of June which has happened, not that i am at that stage yet , but yes i do agree with everyone I do need to find someone on our side as well, however i am on the list to see Dr. Wernikie hear in Alberta when ever i can get in as well ( he is our " specialist over all in our province for pers ribing our meds as well ) .

Comment by Rachel King on June 18, 2012 at 7:19am What I was meaning Danica, is exactly as you have worded in your update.
It's great, it has detail for we that don't know your circumstances.
As far as we know, you chose this Physch as your GID specialist but in fact your GID is a side bar to what he is seeing you for.
He obviously knows little about how our minds work or he wouldn't be having the reaction he is.
There's good advice here in finding a new Doctor, one with knowledge of trans women, not an amatuer like this one.
My reference to the 7th and 15th was the apparent mood swing in that week, without an explanation.
You don't owe us one, I know but is is not only friendly, it is curteous to fill in all the details.
So many treat a blog like a phone text message, full of abreviations and lacking in detail.
For a one on one conversation, that's fine, but you are seeking to reach out to a wider audience, one who understands where you are going, sympathises and wants to help, as we can.
For that we need the little details so we can follow your journey.
Let me give you an example.
I am interested enough and others may wish to also see this Dr, so I get onto Rachelpedia(c) and presto, hold it! no presto, he doesn't exist or not as you have written it.
That's the end of the line for me sadly, just when it was getting interesting.
Oh well......
This is only meant to encourage you to further the detail that you give us, an encouragement, because another will be having the same crap that you are experiencing but they, like the large majority, say nothing, so blogs like yours are a great learning tool and are something they can gain confidence from.
Thats really the only reason that I queried what you have written.
When it comes to detail, more is definitely better.
Good luck with your new Doc, whoever he may be.
Comment by Danica Athena on June 18, 2012 at 10:58am thanks Rachel ! I can see what you mean as well , and yes I will put more details into my upcoming blogs for sure ( besides my blogs as of late have been looking fairly masculine yuck ) As well a little more input hear towards something I put in this blog , it was pushed to a point that he was making it out to sound like all of us confirm to likng the oppisite sex no matter what so us who r or are going threw m2f will ALL like males no matter what and those f2m like wise will eventually like females no matter what. In my case , yes I am married to a lovely lady who openly has accepted this as well , she is bi sexual n e ways and with me wanting to and going threw this does not see any issues for us, and likewise I do not see any issues or problems as well. My wife has also gone as far as to say " hell if this means I am looked upon as a lesbian then so be it , aslong as I get to be with you no matter what' besides I fell in love with the inner person , not the outer person that others see" . So I think the best thing to do is find a diff dr like everyone says.
Comment by Sabrina Massiel on June 18, 2012 at 2:32pm I have heard similar. Makes you want to bludgeon them with a nice heavy bag of sugar n spice and everything nice.
Comment by Jodie Jones on June 18, 2012 at 8:00pm Drop that shrink like a bad habit! Who tells HIM who he ought to Love??
We're all individuals. Listen to your hear, Dear.
Comment by Polly Rioux on June 18, 2012 at 10:22pm Danica,
Yes, drop the shrink. As was stated before, sexual orientation is not a by product of who we are, it's merely another dimension. We're not all cookie cutter, nor want to be; that's what's make our community so wonderful. Get someone certified to see things from the correct school of thought. Unfortunately, still some neanderthal thinking out there in the professional arena.
