Hi,
Many times I have been walking down the street, in the Mall, or some other public place when I would see a person 100 yards away. That person would be so far away that I couldn't tell ANY detail about them yet instantly I could guess if they were Male or Female and despite not being able to see them well, I was right 99.8% of the time. So what is it that tips us off to someone being male or female? I don't think it's the hair. I've seen many men with long hair and many women with very short hairstyles but I "guessed" them correctly. I don't think it's body size, I've seen many small men and many large women & guessed them correctly. So what is it that makes us identify someone as being male or female when we see them? I really want to figure this out. If I can figure that out, maybe I could enhance my feminine appearance. So what are your opinions?
I would suspect that it might be seeing someone who either looks out of place or is uncomfortable in their surroundings.
Comment by Kathy Murdock on October 8, 2012 at 12:24am Allison that is a great question which I ask myself continually. Over the years I have made some observations about my own deficiencies and have listed them below:
My apologies Allison I took an extra pink pill tonight and it seems to be kicking in. On a more serious note I think confidence leads the pack, followed by body shape and movement. You have to be a woman in your head before you can be one in public.
Comment by Jenn on October 8, 2012 at 3:49am Hi Allison.
Asking the question you must have a sense of what the answer is, yourself. I'd love to hear your take on this. You can also go back into my blog archive and read: Sisterly Advice on Being "Clocked" At a distance I suspect that having feminine body proportions and fluid feminine movements dominate. Female body proportions are the classic 36-26-36 for upper body, waist and hips. Movement can be learned from Denae Doyle's several DVDs on all aspects of feminine movement some of which are now on YouTube.
Gosh, I am so in agreement with Jennifer on the answer to this one. Body movement is key. Danae Doyle shows you how men lean forward and occupy more space when they walk, Women lean back, elbows at their sides, and use less space for their size. Her DVDs are worth it! I have written WPATH and requested that they be required watching before HRT and SRS...
