"We are One"

Dropped by one of our favorite Mexican takeout places on the way home to pick up some dinner a little while ago. So, while I'm standing at the counter waiting to be served, I notice this family sitting at a table nearby (dad, mom, daughter) and they are all staring at me like I'm some kind of serial killer. The kid behind the counter comes over, looks at them, and asks me "Everything ok?"

"Yeah.." I smile, waving to the kid who then goes back to what he's doing. I glance over my shoulder at the family sitting nearby again, to find them still just staring. The father suddenly stands up and packs up everything that's left on the table real fast and then hurries his wife and daughter out the front door. All the time, I'm standing there watching them with what had to have been a pretty funny look of confusion on my face. Just as the kid serving comes over and asks what I'd like, the daughter comes back into the dining area and just stares at me again.. then she leaves.

"What's the deal with them?" asks the kid behind the counter, as now he and I are both staring in utter confusion over what the hell just happened.. "They looked like they knew you or something." Nodding, I reply "Naw, I think they thought I was famous or something.. You see the way the daughter came back again? Pfft.. weird.." We both have a few more laughs over it before I pay and leave.

The best part for me was the kid working there. He did not bat an eye at me, as I'm in there all the time.. to the point where they all know me really well.. I've been a regular for a long time. Life is certainly more interesting these days.. ^_^

Geez, Kat. Things like that seem like a Comedy of Errors sometimes. Maybe they thought you were their deceased great aunt come back to haunt them---Blessings, Elynn

Imagine living your life filled with such stupidity and bigotry that it taints your ability to enjoy life? My prayers go out to that family. Those poor children who have parents like that...

It's kinda cool seeing the puzzled looks on people's faces - and all I have is long hair.

I remember back when my wife and I were first married, we were eating in a restaurant. A man walked up to our table and, without introducing himself, said, "You look just like our son. My wife left here crying." No explanation a all. To this day we don't know if he was killing in Vietnam or what.

I'll bet they thought you were a player in the WNBA, but couldn't figure out who.
