Two small footnotes:

"Dr. Bowers also holds the distinction of being the only person to have undergone the procedure to perform the procedure"... isn't quite accurate. Dr. Christine McGinn is another surgeon who is TS and routinely performs SRS. Without counting numbers she is probably well in excess of 100 patients. Post SRS she and her partner had two children and she even nursed them!

There are several other surgeons you have not mentioned, that I believe should be on the list of top 10. But this is your list and I respect that and you.

If  Christine actually nursed then she is on the transgender spectrum genetically and has the xx chromosome to develop normal female breasts. Typically the MTF breast is not capable of nursing, as the glandular and lobular structures do not develop adequately. The breast is primarily made up of connective tissue. I know she is shown in the trans movie as nursing, the question is she lactating.

I am having Toby do mine this month. I referred to him in the past, and he is of the same generation and training as myself. 9 days and counting.

Well like any list based upon opinion this is quite subjective,.but here is my list...

The Best SRS surgeon.

The one who operated on a happy post-op woman, the other four don't matter to her.

Hi, Nathine - I used to think just like you do about the difference between male bodies and female bodies.  It seems impossible that male breasts could do such a thing. And having read several of your blog comments, I know how super intelligent you are on such things. Surprisingly, I learned from several sources that even men can nurse (if they first have had enough stimulation to cause them to produce milk).  One of those sources was some you'd probably respect, too. At the time he was a 2nd year medical student (UMDNJ), who already had a master degree in biomedical sciences, and whom I trust 100% - since he is my son.

You can also Google "men nursing babies" and see videos and read the articles.  Needless to say, Christine,  a transsexual woman smart enough to freeze her sperm until later - and physician for many years - would also know that this was possible and she would know how to make the process begin.  I don't know if HRT makes it easier since it develops breasts further.

I seriously considered trying to produce milk but didn't for several reason. My age (58) would make it difficult, if not impossible. AndI also know that female breasts contain a whole lot of fat that goes away when milk production starts. After production ceases the fat doesn't fully return and so the shape isn't as appealing as it once was. Again, at my age.not good.

Paula - Your list wouldn't sway me; Montreal has always been my choice anyway (unless the whole city explodes or something) but I want you to know that I am glad that you came through it fine and it's good that you are back up and around and posting updates.

For what i saw so far here in los angeles from one of my friends, Dr Marci Bowers work itts not that good i think Dr Kathy rumer should be in that list instead of her, and thats a fact.
