The ease with which this loopy could obtain multi-firing weapons, chemicals for booby-traps and thousands of rounds of ammunition is scary to the point of lunacy from a nation that seems to have little value for human life.
I'm not arguing gun control,( yes I am) that is not the issue, ( yes it is but you are too scared as a nation to say we got it wrong and as a Nation you will sooner than later die by the sword( metaphorically speaking))
No,what is the issue is nobody picked up that this moron was heading to something akin to out of control ( except the Gun Club owner who refused him acces to his firing range.... bravo him).
I'm angry....... angry that another moron in Oztralia will see this and say, " Hey, what a neat way to get my name known throughout this shitty world.
Of course getting the weaponry is that much harder here nowadays but loopy's seem to find a way and loopy's seem to come out of the woodwork when this occurs.
Don't even begin to tell me guns don't kill people, course they bloody do because it is so easy to access them and the loopy's then only have to get into their weirdo zone and start pulling the trigger, and pulling, and pulling.
Damn, you ever see 12 people knifed to death and 58 others with stab wounds!!!!!!!
Not even John Rambo was that good or bad.
So, you all can ignore it but I want to be on public record as being deeply opposed to this mass violence and this shithead doing his best to add to the screwing up of the world.

What's to ignore, Rachel? It was a horrific event, another in the annals of American disgrace of fairly complete nut jobs doing what they think is credible and wise. But scream and shout about it? The people who knew him barely saw this coming. Besides....... you got NO crazies in Oz? I'm in Freeport, Maine; what exactly should I do about it NOW?
And yes.......I have seen piles of people stabbed/shot/burned/worse than that with MANY wounded surrounding them. What's yer point? So I don't get as upset as some/most might but I am somewhat de-sensitized to abject and overt violence. Not that it doesn't bother me, but it just doesn't make me weepy crazy anymore.

I serriously doubt that one armed citizen could have stopped a guy with an assult rifle! A producer for a TV show went to the same store where the Aurora killer bought his rifle and had his asult rifle in only two hours. Assult rifles should be banned period! The gun laws are very lax here in the US. Another thing, there should be a computer registry for gun purchases. A tipoff in the Colorado case was the guy bought several guns in a very short period of time. The TV producer could have bought as many assult rifles as he had the money for. There was no restriction on the number purchased at one time.
Rachael,as you can see we are hopelessly divided here in America over gun ownership issues so much to our shame more Columbines and Auroras will continue to happen. How sad! BTW guns manufactured in America are one of our leading exports. Got to love the 2nd Ammendment. NOT.

Gun control is not the issue here, this stuff happens all the time in other countries around the world that have banned ALL guns so your argument Dianne is pretty much weightless.
I am a veteran police officer, one who has been involved gun battles with gangs, twice.. worked homocides, walked into a motel room where a triple murder had just occured were it seemed every square inch of the room was covered in blood and brain matter; and I would NEVER in a million years support a gun ban of ANY kind. I dont believe in punishing the masses for the crimes of the few. If anytyhing I think gun laws are too restrictive.
In the Aurora CO case if someone had a gun they may have been able to save a life or two.

if we really were the greatest nation in the world we wouldn't be starting so many pointless wars. RE: the Taliban, Aftghanistan...should have simply bombed them back to the stone age, no aid, no boots on the ground.
Libya was about the bankers keeping Gaddafhi from creating a new gold based African banking system that cut the greedy bastards out of it...ie: Rothschilds, Rockefellers, Chase Manhattan, Citibank, and their thieving ilk.
We would also have health care that matches or exceeds that of OZ, UK, and lovely CANADA. If it wasn't so damn far north I would much rather live there, say British Columbia. Vancouver is wonderful.
Someone said that in Obamacare, if you are over 75, you don't get any healthcare. They want you to die.

My thoughts on this terrible crime sent me to sit down and write to my representatives in congress and my state legislation. I have gotten positive results from doing so before so I figured rather than just yell at the TV I would try to do something more productive with my anger (I am a naturalized citizen so I use my rights whenever I can :) ). I posted the website through which the politicians can be reached on my facebook as well as a petition to hopefully stop the horrible people in Westboro Baptist Church from accumulating more frequent flyer miles and free tickets for flying to Aurora to spread their hate. Other than feel grief there is little else I could do.

I am passionate about banning assult rifles only. What can be their function for protection? Unintentionally kill everyone else in the process of defending yourself? I do not disagree with the right to own a firearm to protect oneself. Just not assault rifles or RPG's or bazookas for thar matter.
