I have been going out shopping, as Diane a lot lately. I have no trouble passing until I speak . Then I may get a little pause from the other person and then it is back to normal. Are we girls becoming more main stream? Has anybody else been getting this reaction?
Hugs
Diane
Comment by LAINIE NELSON on September 14, 2011 at 2:55pm I have never had a voice problem as far as I know of. But my voice is sort of in the middle range anyway. I match Anne Murray in range. However, my mom was always called sir on the phone, and I do get that a lot.
I deal with and speak with up to maybe a hundred people every day. The only person that read me was another transwoman.
Comment by Darla Rose Klein on September 14, 2011 at 8:10pm Hi Dianne i spent about six weeks in chicago and minneapolis this summer i had the same experience, one people are very engaged on cell phones computers or shopping themselves was in all the major malls and had a very good experience!Ps i try to have anormal voice!Darla
I like to think we are becoming more common then years ago.And i do beleave its getting better
Comment by Rose Marie on September 15, 2011 at 8:50am I've been told my voice is more like an alto/base and kind of a husky female voice. I am careful how I enunciate and now no longer need to think about it. If I get rasphy I'll cough and say allergies acting up thus getting an understanding look rather than being outed. With more TG going out I think some people are becoming more accepting.
Comment by Marsha M. Marsha on September 15, 2011 at 9:20am You may want to look into voice coaches. It helped me, although mine was never too bad, caoches can help with little thngs that we don't hear, but cause the pause, as you mentioned
Comment by Kristi L on September 16, 2011 at 12:00am Being out is a very reinforcing experience and helps one's confidence very much. You will learn to just take each step without any glitch or concern. I like you get out very often and do not feel like I have any problems. I feel that people I come in contact with see me as a GG. I am very fortunate with my size and voice also. Keep up your good work.
