"We are One"

I have been lurking around here since I became a member.  I was introduced to this site through a friend’s Facebook feed.  I am a college student and know several transgender people from both ends of the spectrum.  It is my hope that I can be the same considerate and kind friend to all of you.  I know my working knowledge is rather limited but I enjoy learning new things.

Welcome to the group! I'm positive you will learn so much from this group, not only about transgender issues in general but about yourself as well.

Welcome Victoria, we don't discriminate against gg's!! If you read much on here you will certainly learn much.

After I realized I had always been a female person I had to educate myself. Dr. Bushong's "What is Gender" is a very eye opening treatise, and when I first read it, I thought: "Migosh, he is really writing about me!" It's easy to find online.

Hi Victoria,

As a young ciswoman who is interested in transpeople I am very encouraged and cheered by your membership her. You see a dear friend of mine, named Teri Jo, was a member here and was going to devote her life to helping transpeople through therapy and educating the public of our plight. Unfortunately this brilliant doctoral student succumbed to cancer. I am not trying to pressure you into replacing Teri Jo, but I find it heartwarming to see a young person who is not afraid to be associated with us.

Her is Teri's profile from Pink Essence http://pinkessence.com/profile/TeriJoReese?xg_source=profiles_membe.... Maybe you will se why me and other came to love her.

Hugs

Hi, Victoria

It is a funny thing about life that when we give a part of our heart to others we one day realize that we have grown better and stronger, not weaker.  Humanity puts us all in the same room, but compassion, consideration, and kindness binds us as family members since those actions nourish our hearts, our minds, and our souls.

Please feel free to join any conversation, add you opinion or experiences, ask any questions (we'll have 100 different answers since we are all different - and we will all be right and probably all wrong, too), enjoy the emotional integrity that exists here - it is rare to find people willing to be so real, and lastly know that your presence means a lot to those who are struggling with the question, "Will others ever accepting me?"  Those of us who have already transitioned already know the answer to that question but early on in acknowledging who we are and trying to figure out what to do about it, finding a positive answer to that question it is an unbelieveable struggle.

We can all use a friend, we all didn't understand that much at first ether. We just knew we are what we felt, its a work in progress. I don't know that we really ever stop transitioning. Thank you for being so kind and considerate:)

Hi Victoria.

I'm glad you have an open mind toward us as transgender woman and I'm glad that you're here.  I think we're finally seeing a tentative acceptance by the public, Jenna Talackova is the latest example.  Though she didn't win the Miss Canada pageant she has opened the door just a little bit further toward toward the acceptance and normalization of transgender women as an accepted part of society.

It may be that it takes a new generation, yours, to make this happen.  I find it interesting that you are not just neutral toward the transgendered but have actively reached out to us.  I'm curious as to how that came about and look forward to having you actively blog with us.

Hugs, Jennifer
