"We are One"

What have I been up to this summer?  well  Finished my divorce, completed my legal name change, endured 7 hours of plastic surgery and transitioned at work.

Not much, but it has kept me occupied.  Still healing and struggling to do many of the chores I need to do.

Other than work I have been full time since leaving home.  All of my new life has been as Ellen.  Just a few days before my surgery my so to be ex decided to pull the ultimate act of cruelty and out me professionally.

Well, it wasnt such a huge success for her.  My employer wants me to stay so the already scheduled transition meeting happened friday 8/10.   Ellen  takes over there on the 21st.  I so hope Im up to this challenge.

That has been my summer.  Pretty uneventful actually.

Glad you got that over with. Men can be such beasts. Glad I never was one!

Uneventful? Right...

Divorce by itself would drive anybody crazy.  Being far enough along on the path of transition to do surgery, that's quite and emotional roller coaster, too.  Coming out at work is a huge step.  Too late now to worry if you are up to the challenge, isn't it?  hahahhahahahaha  Seriously, "the horse has left the barn" or "the cat is out of the bag" or say whatever other expression is appropriate to signal that the hardest parts of transition have been completed (accepting your are TG, telling loved ones, telling at work). There are some more hard steps to come but none compare to those you have completed, in my opinion.

And now you step into the realm of the unknown. We haven't been schooled for years by girlfriends, aunts, or mothers, etc., on the ways of a woman's world. And the physical changes coming will affect how you interact with the world, what you are capable of, how dangerous the world is for women, and how vulnerable you will feel in it. Still it is an exciting world, so welcome!

Ellen,

Like so many things we as trans women face, we do so stoically and regardless of our inner feelings, so that the brave face we develop for the outer world and the spirit we build for ourselves, will not be broken.

" Only the strong transition," and acts like your ex pulled, make us stronger, even on the days when we feel anything but.

Your employer is to be applauded and commended.

Their foresight in retaining your services sends a powerful signal to any detractors, including your miserable ex, that it is what is between the ears that matters.

I hope your ex gets the message and any other misery-guts do, as well.

Enjoy girl, you have succeeded in a major victory for sanity and you deserve the accolades.

I appreciate the comments.  It boosted my spirits a ton.  Tomorrow I am asked out for dinner by a few women, two I work or worked with to share their weekly night out.  Oh my, my absolute terror of transitioning at work was slightly disappointing.  Every single person is super supportive.  There will be some customers not so accepting, but I have so many watching my back its incredible.
