That is a nice letter I feel the same myself too, I cried today all day. I was thinking as a drummer over 30 years rock that I could teach that stuff I do to the younger crowd the John Bonham stuff that I do for fills and solos. I love to play and worked at it a lot until I got into another construction job that I will never go back to for brawn is not my thing anymore. So now a caregiver and with my kit at my side I am thinking why don't I teach lessons to those that want to do triplets and quads on the pedal and the toms and snare with snap-rolls too. I played guitar for a church band and that was fun but I am a percussionist at heart. No more church stuff either too restrictive. I love the way you put it rock till you drop I have done that.
