I found the Dateline episode about an 8 year old transgender boy who lives as a girl! Watching the videos reminded me of myself when I was little but this little girl did what I couldn't do and that's speak and and say I was different. The link is listed below along with some videos on the page, truly inspirational!

Comment by HELEN BRADY on September 30, 2012 at 11:59pm Thank the Lord for my grandmother; who taught me to embroidery, to sew, to play jacks, and other feminine things. I think she gave me my first doll at about 3 or 4. I always wonder if maybe she knew somehow I was really a girl.
Comment by Erin Detty on October 1, 2012 at 10:12am Every time I watch this its hard, I get wide ranging emotions, I want to cry and smile all at the same time. I wish things were different in the late 50s and 60s.
I was sent to a clinic to see a Doctor by the school I attended when I was 7 years old and it was a bad experience. They gave me something that made me feel a bit out of it and asked me questions about my thinking and acting like I was a girl and why I was so stupid in so many words, the school put me in a Special Education Program afterwords "really."
My parents were upset from what they tell me a really can't remember. My mom told me that in the report to our family Doctor, one of the things this other Doctor wrote in it was that he didn't believe I had Gray Matter, Talk about a Quack! We moved. That's what you had to look forward to at that time in history if you had GID.
I had a bad Childhood, I don't like telling things like this because I don't want to be seen as damaged I have had a lot to work out. This is the First time I have told this to anyone out side my Family or my Therapist. It is so nice to see that there is progress, still long way to go but there has been progress made.
I've seen Josie's story also in german TV in a documentation and just like Erin said, I'd also like to cry and smile with Josie and I wish her just the best for her future!
I think many more parents should see this film to learn and understand and to listen to their children, when they try to give signs and signals. Josies parents have understood after their doctor understood the hint, whne Josie was a child and the parents did the only right thing to enable their daughter a happy life!
Thanks for the link ... this film is a good sign with hope for children just like for us adults to make hopefully those understanding us and our decicions who havent understood yet why ...
Good luck for Josie and her parents and I'm sure she'll be a wonderful girl, woman and human being in her way!
Comment by HELEN BRADY on October 1, 2012 at 10:53am I am beginning to think that these kids are going to lead the way for all of us.
Comment by Miranda James on October 3, 2012 at 9:33am Just watching this little girl in the videos reminded me of myself when I was little, the only difference is that she had the courage to speak up and say what she was feeling inside. I held my feelings inside and here I am 36 years later, she is one awesome little girl and I agree with Helen that a moment like this can change the worlds outlook on our kind for the better.
