Yes, I do have the occasional idea worth considering after which I immediately lay down and wait for it to pass! I will spill this one for others to consider. I started wondering after reading some of the blog posts on this site. The blogs have put forward some interesting views and ideas. Would it be possible or even feasible to put them in a book form and have them published? It would seem to me that they could prove quite useful things to be considered by those coming after us. We would obviously be helping those avoid our mistakes and preventing at least partially others from having to discover what we did and help them avoid out mistakes. There are a lot of things to consider here obviously but te idea itself would seem at first glance entirely realistic. Now I shall go lie down and wait for this idea to go away.
This would not be a transistion for dummies thing. I would visualize it as a more informational and a pay it forward type of thing. It would simply address the problems we have encountered along the way and how we solved them. Others helped us why bot help others. The difference being in a compliation of methods and solutions we would reach many more than just one or two people at a time. Think of it this way (apologies to chloe) it would be PE in a book form and might also be useful as a reference guide.
Jinian - Most of that information has been collated, first into the Harry Benjamin Standards of Care (HBSoC) and now TS Roadmap. Unlike subjective and anecdotal information (or in lieu of that Wikipedia) TS R is a fairly complex updated guide of what's what.
The other, less objective thing to do is use common sense when taking advice from others. Many have success stories; many more don't! And of the ones that do, there's not a lot of recognition that what works for one doesn't work for all.
MY litmus test for anyone giving advice is whether or not they are out into the larger community (you know.... ALL human beings) doing regular everyday stuff, or are they still starry-eyed abotu their own transition and how miraculous the whole thing is (if that is how it turned out). At the same time, there are fatalists who are so angry at their own outcomes that they can barely speak of it. So use your judgement wisely.

Comment by Lizabeth Kay on April 11, 2012 at 7:33pm You know, JinianVictoria (like that name!), this isn't a goofy idea. Yes,s, as Daralyn wrote, there is a lot of material out there. But there is so many of the day-to-day questions not answered. My brain cell is to tired to give a good example now. But I know that I have had such a need and probably will again!
Comment by Erin Detty on April 12, 2012 at 6:22am I think thats a wonderful idea. You might come up with another great idea wile your laying there:)
Comment by Jodie Jones on April 14, 2012 at 9:53am JinianVictoria - I am absolutely stealing your first sentence, and will use it. I will try and remember to give you due attribution. It is precious! Your idea contains within it some thing that has been in, and on, my mind since virtually the first day I 'discovered' I was trans. That is I have the strongest desire to help any sisters who are coming along behind me, in any way that I can. Particularly to help reduce to a minimum the pain, tears and sorrows that I went through, much of them needlessly I intuit. I think your idea has merit. I shall ruminate upon it. To state the most obvious, we would have to have permission from each writer (I am assuming). You are sweet to have had the thought you did, as it reveals a degree of selflessness, which I think is healthy. Thanks for sharing with us here.
Comment by Jennifer Daviess on April 17, 2012 at 3:24am A noble and well intentioned idea, but personally I would be strongly against it.
