Today is a struggle and I'm tired of struggling...

I am so weary - that is the best I can explain it. Kids are out of school now and I'm working from home watching them, trying to focus on work and it's been a struggle.

I can't give them the attention they need because I need to work, i can't really focus because I'm consumed with "what to do" about my GID. For years, really my whole life, I would go 150% balls to the wall with everything. I would over-deliver at work and I would shine. I would do as much as I could for my family -… Read More

How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?

I remember that line from a movie starring Marly Matlin that was about Quantum Physics called "What the @#$% Do We Know!" Because I draw some parrallel with my beginning transition to beginning to understand Quantum Theory. The more you know the less you truly understand. Now as a new member I felt it necessary to put myself out there quickly to let everyone know how serious and also how surprisingly honest I am. In some ways a blog like this is more for validation than anything else but I want… Read More

Told my wife and we are still here

Its been a busy, stressful last month. I was wrapped up in my work and myself, my daughters graduation from college (she did great!). And, today I took a huge step. I told my wife.

I'm part elated and part scared out of mind.

My wife was really very, very good about it. She suspected. She told me she had seen my cycles in recent years and this time noticed the small changes in my behavior -- shaved legs (I'm a cyclist and, well, cyclists shave their legs, right), longer… Read More

Having my name changed

Tuesday is my Court hearing day to have my name changed. It has only been 5 months to complete my outward transition to my real self! After I have my petition approved the only hang up I forsee is my house mortgage. It is such a good feeling to be out as the woman I am! Love hearing "lady"!

Public perpeption of transexuals

We went to see Hangover 2 last night - if you enjoy that kind of comedy, it is pretty funny. However, there was a scene where they are in Thailand and a stripper/prostitute turns out to be a "Lady Boy." The show EVERYTHING on this girl - the whole audience went "ewwwwww!" It really upset me for a few minutes because:

1. I realized that most of the general public is still very uneducated about what GID is and view it as a choice and in some cases as a perversion.

2. I… Read More

Blog about blog

I wanted to post here about the blog that a friend and I have begun on wordpress. The blogs are about just about anything, but hers will tap into the lesbian community from time to time (or quite often) and mine will be about being Trans and my process and life leading up to transitioning and beyond, and writing about anything else when it hits me.

Some of these may be reposted here, but we'd love for you to check us out at:…

UI Question

Is there any way to change the background on our home page?

This site would be a great deal more user-friendly if we could do some basic customization. Thanks in advance. Not sure I feel safe enough to post in forums yet, so I'm asking here.

What exactly is Gender? A couple choses to keep their baby's gender a secret.

A Toronto couple's decision to keep the gender of their 4-month-old baby a secret has touched off a sometimes nasty debate over how far parents should go in protecting young ones from society's boy-girl biases.

The following article appeared today in "USA Today"…

Humorous way to respond to fundamental religious groups about Transgenderism and GID

I read Susan Burgoff's blog about how her ex has enlisted "help" from a minister to try and fix Susan...LOL. Like the other comments, most of those people are running away from their own fears. Why does he think he needs to fix you? Why doesn't he fix himself?

Anyways, I've had this on my computer for a long time because well...I find it hilarious. I am in no way making light of religion because I have a very deep spiritual practice. What I am making light of is fundamentalists… Read More

Do We Choose to be Sexist, or Are We Born That Way?

This topic has been bubbling in my brain since I read the book, Whipping Girl, by Julia Serano. I'm not sure I'm ready to write - the bubbles won't stand still - but here goes.

By now you should know that I carefully use the word sex to define the state of being male and female and the word gender to describe the spectrum bounded by masculine and feminine. I consider the person who decided that the words gender and sex are synonymous as being the chiefest… Read More

Transsexuality and the Bible: For anyone being attacked by ignorant Christians

I am going to review a few topics for understanding the bible and transsexuality. This is posted here because it is a response to Susan Burgoff's Blog post and it can be helpful to the general populace of PinkEssence outside of just the FAITH group. Knowledge is the power to protect yourself against those who would use knowledge against you. Christianity is commonly a fixture placed between families and their love and understanding of those in their lives who are transsexual.… Read More

She Keeps trying to 'Fix' Me...Help me tell her to leave me alone and let me be.

My soon to be-EX keeps trying to fix. We've been seperated now for a year and a half. She is affraid I'll turn my boys gay or even worse a Crossdresser. ( Her Words)

She just sent me a note.

I wish I was versed enough in the Bible to be able to tell the man at

to leave me alone and let me be proud of who I am.

That God didn't make a mistake, He doesn't make…

Goodbye my friend and ally with love... for Krista Easter.

I don't know how many of you knew Krista Easter, but she was a friend of mine. Not only that, but she was a person I had spent time with, drank with, and hugged because we were friends. We didn't spend a lot of time in close personal contact, but we messaged and poked each other here and there, and kept in touch where possible. She was one of the most genial people I'd ever met, and here in Denver had spent time doing activism for the trans community. She was a lot like me. She was about the… Read More

Going away for a few weeks

My "situation" has gotten pretty severe that the other night, my wife recommended that I go down to my Cousin's house in Key West for a few weeks. It's something I've been considering for a while but honestly, the guilt would set in immediately that I was "running away" instead of facing my fears.

I know now that is quite the opposite. My wife is in hair school (*yay* for me), so we rely mostly on my income for bills. I have a great job that I can work from home and a side business… Read More
