In my mind the greatest gift of femininity is the complete freedom of expression. I think it was Madonna that was once quoted as saying “true femininity means absolutely loving being a girl”. Whether its hair, nails, make up, jewelry, clothes, or feelings women have the freedom to express themselves in ways that are not socially acceptable for men.
Living as female full time has be a delight for me. I work in a very business (albeit casual) atmosphere in a directorial position. I…

You've failed many times, although you may not remember.
You fell down the first time you tried to walk.
You almost drowned the first time you tried to swim, didn't you?
Did you hit the ball the first time you swung a bat?
Tell me, gals, was your make up perfect the first time you did it yourself?
Heavy hitters, the ones that hit the most home runs, also strike out a…

So I went to my first Lobby Days. Wow. DC is expensive! It will take all summer to pay off that Amex bill! But it was well worth every penny I spent. I made some inroads, granted really small inroads, with the uber-conservative Alabama coalition of politicians that would prefer to live in the Fifties... back in the days of separate but equal.
I also found this sense of self confidence in myself that I never new existed. I was never good at going in front of people and doing one on…

It’s been a at least a month since I last wrote anything and I just wanted to write out a few things. I feel I just need to vent some and just get it out of my system. Before I go into that I just wanted to bring up a few things that are happening in the T-community:
Today the U.S. House has passed H.R. 1913, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act. This bill added gender identity, actual or perceived…

Hi Everyone!
I wrote this blog a couple years ago, but thought I would post it here. It is aimed at the blossoming individual and how they deal with that issue with their spouse. Good luck
In my experience talking with the wife about getting out and about is one of the hardest things to do, or at least it seems to be for me. How to bring up the subject of a day out, or wanting to go out for the first time, or increasing your exposure online, or generally taking any steps…

I believe that one of the greatest gifts we have in life is the people around us. As we go through our time we innately surround ourselves with the people we need. Good or bad, these people add to our experience. Even the worse friendship or relationship you have can be seen as a learning experience. Once in great while God blesses you with a soul mate that really enhances you life more than the rest. I have such a person.
Three years ago, almost by chance I met Kris (Cranberrykris)…

Hey Everyone!
I recently joined Pink Essence and in the short time I have been here I have reconnect with what I though were long lost friends and made a few new ones as well. I have also taken the opportunity to comment on a few blogs. So I felt I owed it to everyone out there to explain and clarify my situation. That may help explain my blog comments and where I am coming from.
First, I am married with kids. My wife knew of me being TG before we were married( not the depth of…

I'm reminded of the humorous line about the famous dancing team of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers that Ginger did everything Fred did but she did it in heels, dancing backwards.
Recently I attended my grand daughter’s dancing school recital that included over 100 mostly young women dancers ranging in age from 5 to graduating high school seniors. The youngest girls were beautiful princesses in their fancy dresses and coffured hair but they had little idea as to what dancing was all…

I consider myself to be transsexual and have been living part time but taking every opportunity I can to live as much of my life as Jennifer as I possibly can. After 9/11 I had stopped flying as Jennifer but last year I couldn’t stand it any longer.
I asked around if anyone knew what TSA would say when I presented myself as a woman with male ID that look hardly anything like me. My TG counselor didn’t know. My TG lawyer friend didn’t know. Nobody I knew seemed to know. So I fortified…

If ever I had a twin it would be my good friend, and recent new member to PE, Shayla (http://www.pinkessence.com/profile/ShaylaElizabethThomas). If our respective DNA's were studied I swear we would befuddle geneticists.... the similarities are amazing.
Shayla is one of my earliest TG friends and definitely one of the dearest. Please, if you have the chance to get to know her don’t hesitate. And if you ever cross paths with Shayla take the time to say Hi.
Shayla, you are a…

Becoming Shirley,
The person I strived and happily to say is the greatest accomplishment of my life !! / It wasnt an easy path to live, by any streach of the imagination - There were many challenges to overcome, and and many scary moments & sleepness nights.
My greatest fear in life was falling into a cycle of "Poverty" -or- having to cope with teachers / Because I ran away from school at the age of 17 Yrs ending up Semi - literate / Having to deal with the issues of confusion…

My transition has been an AMAZING ride, and a 100% positive experience. I am totally out and living full time now with my SRS letters in place for later this year. The best thing I ever did was seek out the best counseling available, and I found that in Hawk Stone. I also sought the best endo I could and was guided to Dr. Leinung at the Albany Medical center. Both of them are a two hour+ drive for me but totally worth it. Dr. Leinung once told me, "do exactly what you are told by your counselor…

The title of this blog truely expresses this day. Here I am sitting in front of a computer typing really meaningless stuff when I should be doing other things. Recently I've been in a flurry of creation. Writing, painting, etc... I guess that I'm drained. One thing this weekend did give me time to walk in a new pair of shoes. Recently I bought some very high heels. Normally I wear sensible shoes, but on one of my trips out dressed I saw a pair of black patent pumps that I had to get. It is an…

Over the past few weeks I have been looking for support groups for those of us that are full time parents. To my shock and amazement, I found there are none. At least none addressing the real everyday issues of raising a younger child alone as a Transgendered parent. Sure there are a few for the children, there are even a few dealing with the legal issues surrounding custody. However! I discovered there is no place for an older single Transsexual parent to turn and just talk with others like…

The most amazing day in my life so far was when I realized that I'd met the love of my life. (Okay, it was spread out over three days - so sue me). She had been pursuing me (I'm a typically dense male & never realized this) for some time. It finally got through my head what a wonderful woman I had, right in front of me, literally within hours of my possibly losing her forever. Fortunately I was in time, successfully wooed her & everyone on this site is probably sick of how I brag about…

Well, my birthday is on Sunday and my friend said he was taking me to a show on friday. I was so nervous cuz I tend to stick with tg-friendly places when I go out. Little did I know, we were going to Playhouse Square in Cleveland to see Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy. OMG! the show was amazing! I had so much fun and I was dressed up, my hair done earlier that day, and guess what? I did not get struck by lightning and the world is still spinning! I would…
