Work Email Announcement FYI

Posted on April 29, 2012 at 4:47pm 5 Comments

For what it is worth this is the email sent out at work announcing my transition on Monday 30 April!;

Faculty and Staff,

 As some of you are already aware, one of our long-time co-workers, Tom , has been working through transgender issues for a significant period of time.  Tom has gone through the appropriate therapy stages as part of the transition from living life in society as a male to living as a female.  On this upcoming Monday, she will begin to openly present herself as…

35th High School Class Reunion - Teresa's First

Posted on February 25, 2012 at 8:00am 11 Comments

Well to put it simply no big deal. Of course I was nervous especially as I went up the steps to the restaurant's second floor. But to my shock was greeted with hugs & total warmness. It was a non-event. I had told a few earlier about the transition, so I guess word spread. Most of the girls complimented me on how well I looked. The men well "how are you." Got a few curious questions, but nothing negative at all. The worst was a few guys were a bit stand-offish, but that is normal for…

Transition at Work Step 2: Talk to OPM

Posted on October 31, 2011 at 7:37pm 2 Comments

Well today was another step toward the transition at work. I called and talked to the TG lady that works for OPM that wrote the Guidance. Gosh she was soo encougaging. Appears we US Government civil servants have some good top cover. Learned what I have to do more clearly to start things at my local base.. She advised me to tell me management about 2-3 months before transition so they can work the issues. So guess I shoot for mid-March 2012 & final for June 2012. I will get the ball…

Transition at work Step 1 - DoD Civilian Employee

Posted on July 14, 2011 at 9:09pm 3 Comments

Well I talked to the base HR people today about transitioning on the job in light of the 27 May 2011 OPM Transgender Guidance. To my surprise the lady I talked to had no issues and said it should be fine. She assigned my inquiry to a specialist to help lay out the timing of things. So it is going much easier than I ever expected. So now T-minus 11 months to work as Teresa. Many hurtles to go but making progress. So excited...

Reality Setting in finally...

Posted on June 4, 2011 at 4:31pm 2 Comments

Well over the past few weeks it is becoming a reality that I can be the lady I always thought I was. Several events & experiences have helped move that along. One being changing my winter/summer clothes. I saw how many girl clothes I had and also too many man-clothes I now never wore, so I have begun to reduce my old clothes (man ones). On the 27th of May the OPM issued guidance on transitioning in the workplace to Federal workers so they have a green-light. On the 3rd of June I talked to a… Read More

Dear Teresa................That would be nice to visit with one another, since we live in the very same state of Alabama.  It says you are a T-person, but I find it hard to believe that you are not a natural-born female.  You look so natural from your pictures.  My pictures are heavily air brushed to cut my nose to half its normal, Jimmy Durante size and shape.  I also have found a way of disguising my height, so that I only seem to be 5'14".  It's all in the height reducer I wear, that squishes my head into your neck and then into my shoulders, and pushes my hips up into the middle of my back.  Otherwise I would be about 5'19".  And the fact that I am balder than a cue ball is greatly helped by the dyed poodle hair I cropped from old Fido and had it straightened.  Modern science works wonders.  Hope to meet you some day.  Toodles for now...............Laura

Congratulations on voting correctly Teresa.

The above sentence is based on the assumption that you voted for Obama and for collectivism as a whole when you posted that you voted for your job and the economy.
