"Randi is correct. The current cut back may prohibit and annual call up for a physical. I did my 26 yrs (3 1/2 Active and the rest reserve) and 31 yrs Civ Svc and yes I was a dual status solder/civilian. I was the Supervisory Staff…"
"Sarah, I am a retired Air Force officer ( Dec 2010) and spent my last 6 years in the human resources area at the Pentagon. Brynn is on target with her remarks. The reality is that the Air Force Reserve has proposed a must several times over the last…"
"Jennifer, once you retire, that is the end of your obligation. It's unlikely that they would request you to return to service unless there is another war and you are in a critical field such as surgeon. And then it would still be your…"
"I am so glad this came up! I never thought of negative problems while transitioning in an IRR status. I am about to retire with 21 +years so I need to figure out if I can be pulled back to active status. I am in a career field that is currently…"
I am in the IRR, and I am more or less transitioned (basically everything imaginable but full SRS). I started after I left the drilling reserves.
Short answer is that once you're in the IRR, it is pretty low risk. As long as…"
"I'm not an expert but I am a recently retired vet. I have a friend who came out as transgender and was moved from M-Day to IRR to finish out his time. Yes, I said his time because he is FTM.
You are expected to maintain physical standards and…"
"I completely agree. Don't do anything to screw up your honorable. If you did begin transition and they recall you, it could very likely mean an immediate medical discharge (which can be converted over, but it ain't all that easy). The best…"

I feel like I am in a cocoon waiting to get on with who I will eventually be. I can't seriously pursue transition yet due to a current contract with a part-time employer which lasts to 2013, which seems forever away, but am slowly trying to present myself more truly as much as I can until then and hope to come out to at least a few people in real life before the end of this year. Outside of gender stuff I'm a very easygoing person who likes to play with technology, try new things, discover new tastes, and really fully explore life and the things in it.
