A Week en Femme, Sort Of (long)

Okay, not really a week--five days, though. Hopefully it won't take that long to read all this....A bit about the setting, as it's important to understanding the context: this was at the Oregon Country Fair, where I've worked on the same crew for over 20 years now. Picture a Renaissance Fair--a big one, with around 10,000 per day paid attendance & all the participants it takes to support that. Now move the time period up to the Summer of Love. Whole lotta happy hippies. It's really common…See More

Profile Information

I am a:
Male to Female Transgender Person
I Express My Gender Variance:
Out and About Part Time.
My Gender Status is:
Genetic Born Male
Relationship Status:
In a Relationship Not Looking!
I am interested in:
Out Reach, Support Groups, Friends, Activism, Networking, Political Views
I am NOT interested in:
Chatting, Camming, Exchanging Pics, Seeking Singles, Marriage
100 Words About Me:
Second attempt at sign-up--not because I'm impatient, but because I skimped on this section before.

My transgender impulse comes in waves, and is currently peaking. I just talked about it with partner last night (she's been through a peak before, though maybe not this strong), and she's generally supportive, while reserving possible objections to specifics down the road.

What I'm looking to do in the sort-of near future is to practice "presenting as female" to the point that I can take it out in public (I've only ever done that once, and it was Halloween (but I tried to be as "good" as I could)). I want to find out if it's as comfortable as I expect it to be. I _may_ also be seeking counseling. I definitely want to obliterate the male-pattern facial hair & the male-pattern pot belly, even if I stay entirely in a male public role.

I expect that I'll find my identity is somewhat fluid, whatever role I put about publicly....

The Early Years

I'm not one of the people who "always knew I was a girl"--in fact, I'm not even completely certain now, at 50. Nonetheless, there may have been some indications in my childhood.

Childhood memories are notoriously uncertain, but these are things that stand out. Whether or not they're truly true, they shape my thinking today. Each of these is a sort of snapshot, so don't expect cohesion from one paragraph to the next....

I don't ever remember having short hair. There are… Read More

Hello all--

I'm Fiona. Well, sometimes... it gets complicated. I'm trying to figure out where in the Trans spectrum I fall.

I'm a genetic male, and with two notable exceptions I've never been out en femme. I'll talk about those later, but briefly, one was on stage & the other Halloween, so they don't really count (to me, at least). My trans impulse comes in waves, though I don't really know whether it fades on its own between or I suppress it. As I told my… Read More

Hi Fiona,
Thank you for the gift of your friendship.
Funny: I just got a book on mythologies of the world
and Finn McCool is a biggie in Celtic Myth, so I'm wondering
if your last name is actually your own or adopted, and if the
latter, did the myth have anything to do with said adoption.
Also, do you ever frequent Victoria's Rainbow? We have
something similar here in the Bay area, Carlas.com in
San Jose.

Juli
