Here we are: Chelsea and Ruby Wendt, married 21 years, after we marched in the Seattle Pride Parade with the Ingersoll Gender Center. Martha wore her Salt Spring Island LGBT t-shirt, and Chelsea wore her Ingersoll one. The fans loved us.

- I'm a mom, a wife, a farmer. I love to dance, to sing, to cook, to walk in the woods, to sit at the seaside. I live in the big city of Seattle and the little island of Salt Spring. My partner of 23 years has come out this year to all friends and family and begun the journey of transition. She is so beautiful! I love to be with her on this incredible journey of transformation. It is so enlivening, like a new lease on life. We still have much to learn but we are excited by it. Enough of this "It's so hard" attitude! I never thought I was a lesbian before, but I have no problem learning what I can so I can keep a sex life. Sex and intimacy is important to both of us; it keeps us healthy. A great stress reliever! We are out, out and out. We hold hands in public, we even touch noses, put arms around each other etc. Seattle can handle it. I don't know about the rest of the country. Political activism may come to us someday. We're pretty new at this for now. Our families and friends have been great. We read a ton of literature from the trans community. We enjoy going to conferences. Oh, and we share clothes, makeup and jewelry. Luckily, we are nearly the same size and we get along famously. I look forward to meeting other people on this site.
