- I am a Technical Writer at Erie Insurance, in Erie, PA. I've been employed here since Oct. 2004, and succesfully transitioned at work in Oct. 2010.
I am also an advocte for our local Trans* community, having created the Transfamily of Erie support group and serving on the board of the Greater Erie Alliance for Equality (GEAE). I'm also active in Transfamily of Cleveland and the Erie Sisters.
- 100 Words About Me:
- Hi! My name is Caitlyn. I'm 48 and soon to be divorced with three kids aged 18, 20, and 27. I decided in late 2009 that it was time to face up the fact that my female self was not going away and so I began my transition. One of the first books I read on the subject was "True Selves" and I cried through most of it as I realized that I was reading my life story. It removed any remaining doubts I may had and I am now totally committed to being the woman I always knew I was.
I have become very active in the community, serving on the board of the Greater Erie Alliance for Equality and creating TransFamily of Erie support group.

I think you have hit the nail on the head when you say "individually and together" as it really is about your own self as well as being about your combined relationship together. Melding the two is probably the greatest challenge for both. We are both still challenged by this journey and working to find the sweet spot that can work for us both.
If you have any questions or concerns, I would love to hear how things are going for you. I can only imagine what the challenges surrounding being on hormones can bring into a relationship.
