100 Words About Me:
My story is a pretty common one it seems. I began to realize that something was different around 5 or 6 years old. All of my friends at that time were female, mainly because they were the ones doing all the things I wanted to do. I began dressing in private when I got the chance. Around junior high I began to try and be more "male", which never really worked well. It is hard to pretend to care about things that you simply don't, but I tried anyway. Then about that same time puberty hit, and a hormone imbalance came into play. My estrogen levels were high and my testosterone levels were low which resulted in me developing to about an A cup in junior high. Needless to say that led to a lot of teasing and humiliation. It also drove the feeling of being transgenered even more. Basically the feeling of if I had been born the way I was supposed to this would not be a problem. Well then I learned to hide that part of me. Then through high school I was in a state of depression most of the time and pretty much withdrew into my own head. I spent a lot of time in therapy during that time, always from the perspective of trying to "fix" that part of me. I learned to play the game, and basically shut down emotionally. That carried through into my early 30's. Well several years ago I began looking at myself and trying to understand what had been going on in my life to this point. I began to accept myself, the decisions I made, and where I was at. At this point I am working on being the best me I can be, and looking forward to the future and seeing what happens next.

I just returned home from a wonderful evening out. I finally kicked myself in the rear and got out to a support meeting, and then out to dinner after that. As it was my first time out in a public place as the real me, it was quite the experience. It is quite amazing how something so simple can have such an impact. For those who have been holding back, it is so worth doing. Being out in a large group made all the… Read More
