I got my SRS from Dr. Juta and I do not have any hair inside my vagina and I am 11 month post opt.
During my reseach in FFS I have found another very good doctor Dr. Charan a well reputed plastic, cranionfacial and maxiofacial surgeon. Any body interested in SRS should also keep him in reseach. He is among the top best but his name is not much familiar I do not know why.
Suporn recommends not having genital electrolysis and guarantees a hair-free vagina. But lots of girls have had hair inside their vaginas that caused problems. My electrologist said she has seen this even from Suporn. Dr. Leis has said his assistant can miss 20%, which makes sense because hairs are in different growth phases so you won't see some. It would be nice to avoid the extra expense and pain, but I chose to not take that risk and clear pre-op because killing hairs inside a vagina is much tougher and may be impossible.
When I restarted hormones post op, upon advice, I initially stuck with my pre op dosage of Estradiol. Some months later my endo reduced this by half and within weeks my blood/oestrogen level had collapsed to 75mmole/l (from a target 500mmole/l) and I began to feel really depressed, emotionally labile, lacking in any energy, in fact downright unwell. I was put back on the original dosage and the level corrected itself and I felt a whole lot better. The problem is there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to hormones everyone is different and what suits one doesn't necessarily suit another. For myself, given I monitor my health stats. carefully, I see no reason for having menopause thrust upon me, with all the negatives that can imply, by some male endocrinologist because he believes that, having reached that 'certain age', I should be post menopausal.
Samia, taking bioidentical estrogen is natural, despite being made in a factory. I will happily continue my Estrogen patches the rest of my life if they continue to make me happy. I have no desire to go into menopause, and can't see any benefit with that for me. Regarding dose I have just restarted my pre-op dose two weeks after SRS and feel great again. I will have my bloods checked three-monthly for a while to find the right dosage. Everyone reacts a bit different to both hormones and meds, you need to find the dose and the substance right for you by working with a doctor. Experimenting may take a very long time and will still not give you all answers you need for the long-term health of your body and mind.
Samia, i cut my dose in half immediatly as directed by a couple of my MDs. I again cut in half after 2-3 years post op, and again in half now at 4 years PO. I expect that I will be off it near 5 years. I find it wonderful to experience the same emotional levels with less and less. The self awareness of "bitchiness" being "horny" and feeling "feminine" all are the same for me, just less drug induced. I abhor Rx and prefer to live free of any of it whenever and wherever possible. I am planning some alternative natural medicine if I need it, but find that natural cures are there in Kundalini and other personal practices. You may want to look into those as well as the herbals. I have had some silly reactions to herbals for the HRT. I find that in everyday ingested "food" there is everything we need. Hope this helps.
i was on 2mg and just uped it to 4 mg as my levels were low all around and i was getting very bitchy thru thiss i found that i know more than the docts here well they are scared. but i change from patches to prognover they will not give us pro here it balances the hormones so i am on a natural well i will revise this again soon but i go and order blood tests so i know half dose when i went post i was on climax patches but when i was post the levels were good at 100mg patch down from 200mg patch but with no spiro i had no surport but io here after 18 months your body levels out but it takes that long
I have a general question for all post operatives that how much estrogen they are taking. Are they taking tablets or injection and how much. Any post opt who is not taking harmones how is she feeling without harmones.
I am actually interested to find out some thing which can maintain the minimum level of harmones in the body with out effecting the body organs. It may be the herbal or homeopathic etc. Is any body satisfied with such harmonal therapies. One another estrogen based herb is Puraria Mirifica. Go to google for more details. I am searching something for HRT for the trans sister which give us minimum side effects.
Related to fund raising I would like to mention here that I have full amount for travelling, loding and food while my stay at Bangkok for FFS. I have 50% amount in hand for FFs and is short by 50% which comes to $ 5,000 Approx.
Because the country where I am living is very hard to save such a huge amount because of low value of currency here so fund raising is the option to get myself complete and live a prosperous life and fulling engage into support for other transgender sisters in my country and world wide.
Robyn your questions regarding SRS one should keep in mind.
1- This surgery is totally irreversible and will not have that erotic sense which one has before surgery so if someone like and enjoy the penile errection one should consider to get SRS or not well.
2- One should think about it 1000 times again and again, the consequences etc.
3- One should prepare a list of questions to ask from one self and from the doctor and then get answers of them before deciding SRS.
4- One should keep in mind that change of gender not only bring changes in the private area, it brings changes in one's social life, one has to readjust oneself into another gender body wise, socially. One has to learn the things of the other gender.
5- One important things to bear is that after SRS one has to take estrogen throughtout the life on the maintenance level to keep faminization and to keep one's bone heathy to avoid osteoprosis. If some body is diabetic, cardia patient, Blood pressure and kidney problem should especailly be careful for SRS as taking estrogen can exagerate these diseases.
Normal Questions to ask from a Doctor
1- How many SRS-Non Penile Inv have you performed till now?
2- What are pros and cons of this surgery
3- What will happen if I have serious complication after my SRS?
4- Are you a registered plastic surgeon?
5- Will you provide me good English Speaking Nurse?
6- What care should I do before and afer SRS
7- Did you have any bad experienece of SRS if yes how you handled it?
8- How do you think you are the better option than other SRS for the same procedue?
One can think about as many questions as possible to clear one mind of doubts .
Good Luck all sisters
I can second what Samia says about living in a conservative society. Prior to coming to Romania, I served for two years in Uzbekistan. It a conservative society with a veneer of Europeanization brought to it through a century and a half of Russian domination. Since independence in 1991, that veneer has grown thin as any Russian who had skill and drive to succeed emigrated. The veneer is being replaced by increased social conservatism. Homosexuality is a criminal offense. I never knowingly met another transgender person while there, but I believe what I've been told, namely that any transgender person who wishes to live openly gets out. The place they usually get out to is Russia, which has a visa-free policy for Uzbeks. I don't think I need to add that if someone needs to escape to Russia to find a more liberal, tolerant social climate, their situation is dire indeed.
If anyone would like to contribute to Samia's FFS fund, please write to me directly for details. Her fund is being administered by Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies. This is a case where even the smallest contributions from as many people as possible can make a HUGE difference in the life and physical safety of one of our pioneering sisters.
Getting back to the subject at hand, I would like to ask Samia to give more detail on what she considers adequate research before SRS or FFS. What resources did you use, Samia? What questions did you ask yourself and others, for example, before deciding on the non-penile inversion method?
