Comment by Hayden on January 10, 2012 at 10:51am I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at FE in a couple of weeks!
Comment by Rebecca on January 9, 2012 at 1:55am Does First Event have a new website? Yes we do! It's http://firstevent.us Is TCNE still a sponsor? Yes they are. TCNE is still the primary sponsor behind First Event, and yes, there are still 30+ volunteers who make it happen every year.
We changed our web site to http://firstevent.us to simply freshen up our overall look. We did such a good job we even lowered our prices this year. And that came due to the generosity of many of our Physicians attending First Event, including Dr. Kathy Rumer.
We hope to see everyone there!!!
Comment by Rebecca on January 9, 2012 at 1:50am Just a quick update for everyone on First Event happenings:
(1) We have our schedule up! See this link to see it: http://www.firstevent.us/program/
(2) We will have our Partners in Process program again this year for spouses and partners of trans-people. PIP isn't trans-101, we have lots of workshops on that kind of topic and here on Pink Essence you can learn alot. PiP is about partners getting in touch with what they want and need. It's about the partners. And it does not matter if your partner or spouse is FtM or MtF, transexual or cross-dresser, straight, bi, lesbian or gay, As long as you are the partner of a transperson you are welcome. See more info here: http://www.firstevent.us/program/pip/
(3) We have a new format for Saturday night. Saturday night is no longer the TCNE awards night with keynote speaker. Instead, we've revamped Saturday night so it is about the keynote speaker and special entertainment! This year, Representative Carl Sciortino is our key note speaker. Carl is a key political figure who fought for the Massachusetts Transgender Equal Rights Bill. Our entertainment is All The Kings Men.. They are great!!!! See more here: http://www.firstevent.us/entertainment/
(4) Lots and lots of stuff happening. We want everyone there who can attend! So if you have questions or comments, drop them here on Pink Essence or email us at info@firstevent.us
Comment by Rebecca on January 9, 2012 at 1:33am Hi Sandy, I work on the First Event Committe. ATKM should begin about 7PM. We usually have a cocktail hour at 6PM ahead of time. It should be alot of fun and our speaker, Carl Sciortino, is one of the heros to our community here in MA with the passage of the transgender equal rights bill.
By the way, the trans-masculine track should really rock. Last year it was great, or so I heard from my guy friends who attended it. This year should be equally good. The lunch at the guys track is for the dudes and their partners.
Also, I don't know if this interests you or not Sandy, but, we have a PiP program for spouses of trans-people. PiP stands for partners in process. Here is the link to PiP http://www.firstevent.us/program/pip/
Comment by Sandy Cronin-Tassi on January 9, 2012 at 12:55am Does anyone know what time the evening events start on Saturday? My spouse is attending the workshops during the day but I have to work so I will be meeting up with him after. I have seen the schedule for the workshops but there is no schedule on the evening stuff. I don't want to miss ATKM!!!!
Comment by Chloe Prince on November 30, 2011 at 10:10am As the newly appointed Director of Operations and Patient Liaison for Out Reach and Support to Dr Kathy Rumer, I will be attending FIRST EVENT to help the Dr conduct her work shops for F2M and M2F related Transgender surgery procedures - such as SRS, FFS, FMS, etc.
If you would like to schedule a consultation with Dr Rumer while she is at FIRST EVENT, please email me here in PE, or at: chloeprince@drkathyrumer.com and I will book you in.
I will be arriving Jan 19th and Dr Rumer will be arriving on the 20th.
And of course, I will be handing out more PINKessence Lapel Pins and goodies while there. Just come see me for details.
See you all there!!
