Here's an update 8 months after my GRS with Dr. Loren Schechter of Morton Grove, IL.

August of 2012 I underwent GRS with Dr. Schechter.  He used a newer procedure for the inversion which included the use of a tummy tuck to gather extra skin for the inversion.  The healing process what seemed longer than my girlfriends that had undergone surgery with other surgeons.  My choice of a 2 step surgery may work out to be the right decision in the end, however, so far it has made me very self conscious of the esthetics of my new genitalia.

The Surgery which included the Penal Inversion, Vaginalplasty, Clitoroplasty and BA took about 11 hours.  Well more than some I have heard.  The end results had my dilating with the larges dilator right after surgery and depth is been right at 5" since the unveiling 5 days after surgery.

The Hospital was exceptional.  Thorek had a bad name and had undergone management changes since Robin Marcs had her surgery.  The nursing staff was always a few seconds away and the other staff were courteous,  Outside of the bed which was not comfortable at all I can say the stay was wonderful for a hospital.

Dr. Schechter was the most attentive, courteous, accommodating and professional surgeon I have met.  In the 18 months that I have been speaking with him I have never had to wait more than a a few hours for an answer to my question.

I originally was scheduled for the Labiaplasty in January, however, due to wanting FFS we had to postpone till April so insurance would pay for both.

Results;  My BA is amazing.  His placement, selection of size and scars are among the best of the countless ones I have seen since coming out and attending the different conferences.  Let's face it.  Most TS girls are not modest (to a point) and some love to show off their boobs.

The bottom is a bit harder to explain.  Since I have waited so long for the second step I am now fully healed and it just looks weird.  The fault is my own.  I chose the 2 step and I postponed it 3 extra months.

I am happy with the outcome so far and although it is incomplete I know that I chose wisely.  I leave for my 2nd step, trachea and FFS tomorrow.  Surgery is April 5th.  I'll post again afterwards.  Follow my youtube channel if you are interested.  http://www.youtube.com/user/TheSarahMaybe?feature=mhee

Where's the list for surgeons to stay away from? I'd like to add a certain Tampa SRS Doctor to it.

(@ Danielle) Thank you.  Yea, I saw the Thailand SRS  group and joined it too. heh..well, an operation AND a trip. That could be good..so long as it's done safely enough.

Hello Jill Ellen. First, if you are asking about CONUS, it is the lower 48 States. Like you I have limited finances and hope to start saving for my trip to Thailand for my SRS.

You may consider Thailand for your selection. I wish I had the money to have mine done in the US but it appears Thailand is about half to 2/3 of the costs.

Hello, I joined your group even though I feel certain I'll never be able to afford SRS, but I want to...so I want to hear what others say about doing it. Question: does "continent of America" include South America? And are there any safe decent CHEAP South American countries to go get it done in, so I might afford it?  Oh but perhaps i should search first before asking??  mm  well I'm new. Hey,  Merry Christmas to you all -Ellen

Nichole, what did you think about Thorek hospital?

Comment by Nichole D'Angelo on August 20, 2011 at 9:18pm

I had SRS with Dr. Loren Schechter on August 12 and I am very happy with his work thus far, his compassion for me, his passion for his job and the actual time he spends expelling everything.  I will be going back in January for my second stage... the labiaplasty.  If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me.

Personally, I have heard both good and bad about Reed. But I know a girl who was one of his early patients and she is happy with his work.

Rachel, what stories have you heard about Reed?

Jennell, what Chicago surgeons do you have in mind?
