It turns out that I will be at Gold Rush this year, at least for Thursday and Friday night! I'm really looking forward to meeting some new people. I'm not much for the club scene, but I have been known to stay up really, really late at the hotel bar :) I'll be toting my guitar in case anyone wants to do some jamming...

See you soon,

CiCi

I'm really sad I won't be attending Gold Rush this year :(

I do think it is fantastic that the show, TransFormations has been scheduled for Saturday night and I encourage everybody to see it! I had a chance to see the show during a short run in Boulder and was totally blown away by the outstanding job that Martie van der Voort does. Doen't miss it, you will not be disappointed !!!

I invite you all to take a look at the up coming Colorado Gold Rush Conference that will be February 24 -27 in Denver. The location is great and I'm working very hard to bring in workshops for everyone, wherever they be be under the Transgender umbrella. If you want any information please feel free to contact me at; tgspirit@aol.com and I'll do my best to answer any questions that you may have.

GOOD NEWS !! We have signed a contract to have another Colorado Gold Rush Convention at the same hotel as the last two years. I will once again be the chairwoman and we have already posted the dates on our site which is; February 24 - 27 2011. Keep checking our site or even here for updates about the Keynotes and workshops that we will be bringing to all. I hope to see alot of you at this next conference as those who attended last year had a great time.

The best advice that I (or any of us) can give those just venturing out in public for the first few times is to hang in there... Yes, there will be those who rude as well as those who stare. But it will get better. Both as you gain in your confidence and your ability to pass. I personally think that I am an ugly person whom everyone I meet reads immediatly. Yet, clearly this not completly true... Apparently most people who meet me just think that I'm a very tall ugly woman. So unless I'm in the company of other trans girls I do pass sort of. Those first few steps are always going to be awkward. But they are neccasary to get to better less awkward ones.

Christine, of course you are correct, and your analysis is spot on.

However, I have noticed in 2009 and 2010 at Transgender conferences that there is a larger percentage of novices and first-time "out" girls than ever before. Their confidence needs all the support and none of the attacks that were present.

I am lucky to have had a lot of experience when this happened to me, and I could deal with it. But what do we do with our sisters who desire so much to be like us and their first sampling is contempt?

I never had a problem with any other guest at the hotel. I did not get to spend as much time at this years Gold Rush as I would have liked but still I met my personal requirement of meeting a few new people. Now as far as comments from young girls goes I have had plenty of run in's with them at the mall shopping. I always try and remember that at thier age they are serching for thier identity and I have found mine and am secure in who I am. I don't feel the need to compair myself to anyone, I am my own measuring stick. So a threat from a 13 or 14 year old has little power. I stoped looking at the ground and hold my head up and am proud of who I am. People have always pointed fingers, what they forget to see is there are three pointing back at thierself. That is why I like to offer my hands with all my fingers pointing out to you in the form of a hug or just a handshake. I hope you come back to the Gold Rush and am sorry that you had a problem with some of the younger guests.
