Truly a nice piece of work. I know whence you come from and your paper is reflective of the struggle that many of us have had.

Your age has put you at a time where acceptance is improving, but still a challenge. 

One thought as I read was that the history of modern Christianity really lies in the western European traditions, and that the US revolution era is actually reflective of a relatively open church here, but with the growth of conservative christian movements in the late 18th and early 19th centuries here in the US that much of the openness was swallowed up and a less accepting ethos emerged.
